DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualified candidates will have prior, focused experience in either a public or private healthcare agency or Non-profit organization. The incumbent will service and manage applications for financially disadvantaged patients; will also work with patients to obtain all required proof sources in order to expedite the application process. The position combines administrative and compassionate customer service abilities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

Experience Required:

Ability to research and provide knowledge of insurance systems, including commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Products and computer system
Strong analytical and decision making skills
Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
Multi-task oriented
Flexibility

Preferred Qualifications:

Commitment to servant leadership and the mission, goals and objectives of the Organization Compassionate Customer Service experience is a must!
2-3 years of experience in health care or health insurance settings
Ability to provide concise documentation for managerial approval
Well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player
Well organized with high attention to detail
Ability to make quick decisions in stressful situations

Qualifications/Education:

Associate degree or a combination of experience and education will also be considered.

Insurance Education & Counseling Case Manager

DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualified candidates will have prior, focused experience in either a public or private healthcare

The IEC Case Manager executes benefit investigations related to current coverage; assists patients in exploring, evaluating, and enrolling in sources of improved or continued coverage; processes applications for financial assistance; coordinates and executes details of financial assistance and its delivery; and advocates for patient needs in issues related to access, eligibility, claims processing, dispute resolution, and appeals. The position combines administrative and
compassionate customer service abilities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

Experience Required:

  • Investigates and documents eligibility, coverage, benefit, and premium details as they relate to organizational needs and to past, current, and future patient situations;
  • Executes processes – including receipt and recording of proof documents – required for payment of grant amounts;
  • Advocates effectively – verbally, in writing, and through other methods – on behalf of patients in issues related to access, eligibility, coverage, claims processing, dispute resolution, and appeals and other benefit issues;
  • Educates patients, family members, and others on access, eligibility, benefit, and coverage issues,
  • Learns quickly; masters new concepts, processes, and systems processes quickly;
  • Prioritizes and executes workload effectively, balancing and resolving identified current and future needs;
  • Ability to research and provide knowledge of insurance systems, including commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, appeals and disability;
