Hi. My name is Pat and I have Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. I was diagnosed about 9 years ago, and yes, I thought I was going to die very soon. Everything I read was very discouraging and I believed that I had no more than 3-5 years to live.
It began when I gained weight and found my breathing and walking was becoming a struggle for me. After accepting there was something really wrong, I found two new doctors: a Cardiologist, because I had elevated blood pressure for years, and I was referred to a Pulmonary Specialist. Both of my doctors have literally saved my life. They both worked with me to identify the problem and to prescribe the proper medications I needed.
My life was not as I had planned it, but with the help of my doctors and my husband, Vic, I have pushed on. It has been a journey filled with disappointment and depression, but for now I am taking it one day at a time!
Slowly though, I did realize I needed something more. I started to pray and have faith that
I will survive this disease; I don’t know for how long, but I am trying to make each day a positive one.
To all those with a chronic disease, such as PAH, keep strong with faith, a cure might just be around the corner.. ”If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 21:22

Pat,
I was really inspired by your story. I was diagnosed about 2 months ago and I too am taking it one day at a time. I have been referred to a specialty hospital in California that can do a surgery to remove the clots in my lungs. So recovery is not far away.
Thank you for your story.
God bless
Joanne Tucker

Pat- I too, have pulmonary hypertension. I am happy to see that you are still doing well 9+ years after diagnosis. It’s definitely a depressing disease at times, but hang in there!

I was diagnosed in April 2002. My diagnosis is PAH Secondary to Sarcoid. Bouts with shortness of breath is the worse.I am on meds and use cpap.
Thanks for sharing your story. I too have PH and I feel that it is a tough disease that does make us depressed alot of the time. I too have a wonderful Pulmonary specialist and without him I dont know if I could go on some days…
I too have been diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. With the help of my pulmonary dr and primary dr and cardiologist we have the right combination of meds to have me only needing oxygen some of the time now instead of all the time. I have been diagnosed with this disease for almost 3 years now…I am considered a long time survivor… without the help of God and the prayers of all my friends I wouldn’t have made it this far! I love to hear of story such as yours! I will keep you in my prayers! Our God is an AWESOME GOD!
our GOD is an AWESOME GOD, HE is not finished with us yet. we just have to BELIEVE…
